Seniors Retain ‘Triangular’

Having gone into the third round of the annual triangular match between local rivals Hockley and South Winchester with a 75 point lead, Royal Winchester’s Seniors were able to retain their title in fine style

The third and final round was held on October 9th at South Winchester because the original May fixture had to be postponed due to bad weather.

Usually the home team comes out best in these matches, and so it was on this occasion, with SWGC scoring a total of 289 stableford points against Hockley’s 249 and RWGC’s 286. But it was all to no avail as RWGC’s final accumulative score for the three matches came to 845 points, with SWGC 60 points behind on 785 and Hockley last at 733.

Congratulations to all of the team, which was ably lead by RWGC’s very happy 2018 Seniors Captain, Barry Girdlestone. He is seen receiving the trophy from the equally happy, but defeated, Captains of SWGC and Hockley, Roger Clark and Geoff Roberts.
