Ladies Stoneham Cup 2018

The Finals

Tuesday 25th September 2018

Meon Valley Golf Club

Congratulations to Royal Winchester Ladies who finished Runners-Up  in a very closely fought final against Romsey Ladies Today.

After beating the Army Ladies 4 - 2 in the Semi-Final in the morning the team ventured out against a strong Romsey team who had beaten Hockley Ladies in the other Semi-Final.

Romsey started out well  but Royal fought back strongly with 3 matches going to extra holes.

It took a birdie putt on the 19th Hole in virtual darkness to clinch the match for Romsey.

A full report will appear here asap.

Quarter Final Match - Friday 17th August

Royal Winchester Ladies beat Waterlooville Ladies

We were lucky enough to be drawn to play at Brockenhurst against Waterlooville for our quarter- final match.   Conditions were near perfect with not much wind and pleasantly warm.

Our team of Gemma, Julie, Judy, Barbara Mills, Christina, Sue Hitchen and Sheila achieved a close 4 - 3 win.    It was all down to the last match - well done to Christina who held her nerve and completed the victory on the 17th.   A great team effort!!

Many thanks to the caddies: Moya, Lyn, Jilly, Elise, Sue Buckett and Mike Rehorn.   Also thanks to the ladies and gentlemen who were there to support us!

The Semi-Finals and Finals are played on Tuesday 25th September at Meon Valley.

Supporters will be very welcome.

Match 6 - Wednesday 27th June

Royal Winchester Ladies Beat Wellow at Home

On a very warm afternoon - (in fact too warm for one of the Wellow Ladies who retired 0n the 13th Hole) - our team of:

Jilly, Judy, Elise, Cookie, Sue H, Sue B and Sheila achieved a fantastic result beating Wellow 7 - 0

The match was not without incident when Elise's ball was picked up be a complete stranger off the green - who then ran off with it and disappeared into the bushes by the roadside along the second fairway.   Marilyn took up hot pursuit and managed to fire off some warning words.   Hopefully he will not be back!!

With many thanks to the team for a great effort and to the caddies Marilyn, Lyn and Pauline.

Royal Winchester Ladies Win at Liphook

We had our return match against Liphook on a very wet day - with constant rain throughout the match even though it was completely dry at Wentworth.
Talking of which one of our team members produced equivalent golf in the way of 3 birdies and a hole in one!!!!! Well played Gemma !
