Winchester Triangular Saturday 26th Aug

As usual this was a well contested competition between Royal, South and Hockley, unfortunately for us the Hockley team proved to be very strong and won relatively comfortably. South pipped us as well so a rather disappointing third place for Royal Winchester.

Centenary Quadrilateral Sunday 27th Aug

A slightly hotter day as Royal Winchester hosted teams from New Forest, Salisbury & South Wilts and Marlborough. Another day with some great golf played with a special mention to Kelvin whose 39 points was the best score of the day. I am very happy to report that Royal Winchester won the event with a team total of 639 points for our 20 players, which consigned Marlborough to second place with their total of 606 points, Salisbury came third and New Forest brought up the rear.

Grace Tanner Trophy Monday 28th Aug

An even hotter day which clearly affected those that played all three days in ever increasing heat which is my excuse for myself and the vice captain succumbing to the Lady Captain and her vice on the 17th. Actually they played very well and deserved to beat us but don't tell them that! There were lots of close games most of which went to either the 17th or 18th, unfortunately for the gentlemen we were only able to secure two halved matches as the ladies took command and won the match 7 - 1. So congratulations to the Ladies and we look forward to next year and another close contest.

I would like to thank all the players who played this weekend in all 3 events, your support is much needed and greatly appreciated. Thanks also go to our catering and bar staff who once again showed off their skill and ability, with all the visitors full of praise for the rents we ran. Thanks also to Stuart for being ever present and ensuring everything went smoothly.

A great weekend which was enjoyed by all who took part and look forward to your support next year as well.

Congratulations also this weekend to Vaneshrie and Barbara who unfortunately lost away to Worthing in the 7th round of the daily mail foursomes. This is a very creditable achievement in getting this far which shows the strength in depth our ladies have in this and other competitions.
