Specialists in custom club fitting for all leading companies using the Indoor Computerised Centre. A selection of good used equipment is always available and part exchange is welcomed. Equipment repairs and re-gripping are undertaken. The Team Steven Hunter Club / Head Professional Steven celebrates 21 years at RWGC this month (February 2006) Lessons are available from Steven for £20 for 30 minutes Alasdair Hay - Touring Professional 33 years old from Glasgow, Scotland. Alasdair lives with his wife Jenny and has a daughter named Isabelle (18 months). Alasdair competed on the amateur circuit in the UK before attending Wallace State College and the University of North Alabama in the United States during which time he was the winner of 16 College and University tournaments. In 1995 Alasdair received the distinction of being awarded a First Team All American, one of the most widely recognized awards in US Amateur golf, which is awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America for play throughout the academic year including the National Collegiate Championships. Other players awarded a First Team All American in 1995 included Tiger Woods and Stewart Cink. Alasdair subsequently turned professional and competed in the Nike, Canadian and Teardrop Tours in the USA before returning home in 1999. Since returning to the UK Alasdair has been Assistant Professional at the Erewash Valley and Alresford Golf Clubs prior to joining Royal Winchester in April 2006. His major objectives for this season are to represent RWGC on the Hampshire, South Region, Tartan and Challenge tours and to attend the European Tour School in the Autumn. Alasdair will be available for lessons around these events at £16.50 for 30 minutes Gary Booth - Assistant Professional Gary is 20 years old and is in his first year as a professional. He is currently studying under the PGA training academy. He started playing golf at the age of 7 and by the age of ten was playing in competitions. He went on to achieve membership of the Hampshire Junior Team and also attended the Hampshire School of Excellence. Gary has recently graduated from Merrist Wood College where he achieved a Higher National Diploma in Golf Studies. During his time at College he topped the playing Order of Merit in a field of over one hundred students. Prior to becoming a professional Gary worked at Test Valley Golf club as an Assistant Greenkeeper. Gary was a member of Test Valley Golf Club where he was Junior Champion in two successive years. Gary enjoys coaching the sport he loves and picked up valuable techniques from the two years spent at the School of Excellence and his current employer Steven Hunter. Outside golf Gary's interests are football, darts, pool, socialising and the odd friendly hustle at the poker table. Emma McBride - Assistant Professional At 23 Emma is starting her professional career by beginning her PGA Course. She is in her first year and really enjoying learning more about the sport she loves. She especially enjoys junior coaching and developing new ways to help children learn how much fun playing golf can be. She started playing golf at the age of 11 with her father at Upton-by-Chester Golf Club. By the age of 13 she was picked to become part of the Cheshire Junior Girls County Team. She became Cheshire Junior Girls Champion twice and went on the be captain of the team. This led to her becoming a regular member of the Ladies Cheshire Team where she was part of the team that won the County Regional Finals. She was subsequently selected to be a member of the England U18 squad. In 2003 she won both the England U18 Strokeplay and the British U18 Strokeplay Championships. This led to her becoming am member of the England U21 squad. Her love for coaching began with Judy Statham. She regularly assisted Judy coach the young Cheshire girl's team. In 2006 she went to Camp America to further develop her coaching skills (where she not only teach golf but juggling too!) When not working she enjoys playing social golf, going to the gym, reading and flairing (cocktail bottle throwing). This last skill was learnt while working at a night club and went on to enter competitions. Her best success in flairing is to have come second at an international in Switzerland. |
