
Local Rules These rules are printed on the back cover of the score cards. You are advised to check the notice board outside the locker rooms for temporary and new local rules. 1. Tractor / Man Made Paths The tractor /man made paths on the 9th, 10th, 13th, 17th, and 18th are obstructions - rule 24 applies - lift and drop within one club-length, not nearer the hole, (i) On the 9th and 10th up to the white marker post, ground within one club-length of the path, is declared to have the same status as the path. (ii) On the 13th and 18th, the ground within one club-length of the paths is declared to have the same status as the paths. 2. Out Of Bounds - Rule 27 (a) A ball lying on the practice ground. (b) A ball lying in the woods on the left of the 3rd and 4th holes. (c) A ball lying over the boundaries of the course or on cultivated land. (d) A ball lying beyond the wire mesh fence erected behind the 17th green. (e) A ball lying beyond the white posts demarcating the tractor shed areas. (f) The grounds of the bungalow, the surrounds to the club house, the putting green and the flower beds. 3. Fixed Sprinkler Heads All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained under Rule 24-2. In addition, if such an obstruction on or within two club-lengths of the putting green of the hole being played intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may obtain relief without penalty, as follows. If the ball lies on the putting green but not in a hazard and is within two club lenghts of the intervening obstruction, it may be lifted, cleaned and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay which (a) is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids such intervention, and (c) is not a hazard or on the putting green. 4. Our Dress Rules Royal Winchester Golf Club seeks to promote a friendly and relaxed atmosphere whilst maintaining a standard of dress, both on the Course and in the Clubhouse, which is appropriate to the traditions of a private members' golf club. Members and visitors are expected to comply with the Dress Code at all times. Course Recognised and conventional golf clothing and footwear only may be worn. Shorts should be tailored and of reasonable length: Gentlemen wearing shorts must wear llong socks or predominantly white sports socks Clubhouse Smart casual dress is required. Recognised and conventional golf clothing may be worn provided that it is dry and clean. Members and visitors wishing to use the dining room are requested to change out of golf clothing. Exclusions Not Allowed - Anywhere, Anytime: Denim or demin look-a-like clothing. Football, Rugby, Hockey type shirts, singlets or shorts. Tracksuits, leisure or shell suits Trainers. ![]() |
